Updated guidance for education settings on coronavirus (COVID-19)

Department for Education and Public Health England have issued updated guidance for education settings on COVID-19.

The updated guidance can be found on the Gov.uk website.

School will be closed until further notice for all children with the exception of children in categories identified by the government. We will have contacted you already if we are aware that your child meets these criteria.
We do not know when schools will be opened again. We get the same news as you from the Prime Minister's daily press conference. The school will keep you updated with any changes in plans.

Key worker Information

If you think that you are a ‘key worker’ and there will be nobody else in your home to look after your child, please email admin@benjonson.towerhamlets.sch.uk with your child’s name, your occupation and a photo of proof (such as your NHS ID badge) for all adults in your home.

Free School Meals

The local authority are co-ordinating this provision Families who are entitled to income/benefits assessed free school meals are being contacted about arrangements while schools are closed.

Home Learning

Teachers will make every effort (if well enough) to work from home, creating learning resources and posting them online so that children have an opportunity to learn. This is not mandatory work, but we aim to provide opportunities for children to continue learning and not be disadvantaged. The BBC also have big plans to provide TV, website and podcast learning resources for all age groups.

Any non-urgent enquiries about home learning should be emailed to admin@benjonson.towerhamlets.sch.uk.

Social Distancing

If anybody in your home has a new, continuous cough or a high temperature (above 37.8 degrees Celsius), all members of the household should stay at home for 14 days.
We hope that everybody follows the advice to only leave their house to buy food or go to work (if they are a key worker) to stop the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus and help us get back to normal as quickly as possible
